Oct.18 and 19 witnessed the success of 2008 Conference on Economic Theory: 30th Anniversary of China's Reform and Opening-up & 100th Birth Anniversary of Sun Yefang. This conference was organized by Sun Yefang Foundation, CASS Institute of Economics as well as Shanghai University of Finance & Economics and was held by SOE and IAR.
Renowned officials and economists attending the conference include Wu Xiaoling, Vice Director of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of National People's Congress, Xu Xianchun, Vice Director of the National Bureau of Statistics of China, Liu Shibai, Honorary President of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Liu Ji, Honorary President of China Europe International Business School, Mao Yushi, President of Unirule Institute of Economics, Li Yang, Director of the Institute of Finance & Banking, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Lu Zheng, Director of the Institute of Industrial Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Zhang Zhuoyuan, Chairman of Sun Yefang Foundation, etc. Vice President Sun Zheng of SUFE presided over the opening ceremony.
Themed on the achievements, challenges and prospects of the reform and opening-up drive of China, as well as the important economic thoughts of Sun Yefang, this conference gathered together about 200 famous economists and scholars from all over China to exchange their ideas on the past, present and prospect of the Chinese economy. This conference served as an open platform for information gathering and exchange, and proved to be very successful as a point to look back on the past and look into the future.
