Using a dataset of Chinese listed firms, Zhu and Zhang’s paper employs an LLM-based intelligent scoring system to measure firms' energy conservation and emission reduction (ECER) performance from publicly available environmental disclosures and constructs two-pronged measures of AI technological capabilities encompassing innovation and adoption, empirically demonstrating that AI technologies significantly enhance firms' ECER performance through improved productive efficiency and promoted green innovation—with the effect more pronounced among SOEs, mature-stage firms, firms in polluting industries, sectors with lower competitive intensity, labor- and capital-intensive industries, and firms in cities with stringent environmental regulations—thereby providing novel firm-level micro-evidence on AI's environmental implications, deepening understanding of the technology–environment nexus in emerging economies, and laying a theoretical foundation for targeted AI-related environmental policy interventions.

The paper by Chen et al., using a large sample from renrendai.com, one of China's largest P2P lending platforms, employs text mining techniques to analyze changes in loan descriptions across multiple borrowings and examines whether borrowers exhibit learning behavior in writing loan descriptions, empirically finding that after accumulating sufficient experience borrowers can optimize their loan descriptions to obtain loans more easily at lower interest rates, thereby providing empirical evidence for the existence of borrowers' learning behavior in the P2P market and extending research on information disclosure and borrower behavior in P2P lending.
